Pedestrian Dies Day After Struck By Car: Nassau County Police (Update)

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a car in Port Washington on Saturday, Dec. 14, police announced.

Carol Mockler, 73, of Port Washington, was crossing Plandome Road at Murray Avenue when she was hit by a 2019 Subaru driven by a 45-year-old woman, Nassau County Homicide Squad detectives said.

The crash happened at 10:12 a.m. Mockler was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition but succumbed to her injuries on Sunday evening, Dec. 15, according to police.

The driver remained at the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
